On Tour with Dstny

Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of attending cycling races, events, and many exciting activities across Europe as Brand Activation Manager at Dstny. But with all these travels comes a challenge: balancing a busy work life while constantly on the move.

Luckily, I work at a company whose services are tailor-made for situations just like this. Thanks to Dstny, I’ve been able to stay connected with colleagues, clients and suppliers as if I were in the office – even when standing atop a French mountain, surrounded by determined cyclists and passionate fans.

The Modern Office: Wherever I Am

There’s something surreal about sitting in a team car parked on the roadside in southern Spain, surrounded by endless orange groves, while participating in a video meeting, while a pro cyclist is testing his new TT-bike. Or taking a call from a colleague while navigating through the ecstatic crowds at a Tour de France stage.

Dstny’s solutions aren’t just for everyday office environments – they shine when you’re out and about. One of the benefits I think we don’t highlight enough is how seamlessly these tools support people like me who are constantly on the move, or “digital nomads,” as we’re often called. Dstny allows me to take important calls, share screens, and solve challenges in real time. This flexibility has been invaluable to me over the past few years.

Here are just a few ways Dstny’s tools that save my day (every day)

Calls on Any Device: When my laptop suddenly died in the middle of a Teams meeting in Spain, I seamlessly switched to my phone with just one click. Crisis averted.

Group Chats and Shared Files: At the start of Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne, I needed to get campaign materials live on our social channels. Doing that from my phone, surrounded by thousands of people and loud (awful) Belgian techno, was no easy feat. But with group chats, I coordinated with my team in Stockholm to get the job done – and still managed to enjoy a much-needed coffee in Gent.

Reliable Connectivity: It might sound obvious, but always staying connected has been a game-changer. Crossing borders without losing coverage (thanks, “Roam Like At Home”!) and knowing I can rely on our data plans has given me peace of mind in unfamiliar places.

Call Recording: During the Tour de France, I conducted several phone interviews right in the middle of the action. As expected, I forgot most of what was said in the chaos, but thanks to ConnectMe, I could record everything and listen back later at the hotel.

Tailored Availability: On a training camp in Spain, I had too much going on – juggling two shoots, writing a blog, and planning the season’s activities. My focus was all over the place, and constant notifications didn’t help. Using the status feature in our platform, I could temporarily shield myself from incoming tasks and concentrate. In a world where being available 24/7 is the norm, it’s worth remembering the value of prioritising your time – something Dstny helps me do brilliantly.

I’ll never forget a particularly hectic day on Tour de France. I was in a team car following the race, trying to answer emails and create social media content while also assisting a colleague with an activity we were hosting for clients the next day at the Tour. As if a TdF-stage isn’t chaos enough…

Thanks to our platform, I managed to get all the necessary information to the right people with just a few taps on my phone. Sure, I got a bit carsick focusing on my screen while the car swerved through tight alpine switchbacks, ups and downs, – but that’s the cost of doing business, right?

Traveling with Dstny: Flexibility and Freedom

Dstny isn’t just a tool; it’s an enabler. Many times, I’ve felt like a traveling office going around Europe with my backpack. It’s not just about being connected but about being collaborative, creative, and the ability to prioritise – no matter the surroundings.

So whether you’re working from your couch, a park bench in Gent, a sunny café in San Remo, or a windswept field in Flanders, Dstny can turn any location into your headquarters. 🚴‍♂️📲
